This is very nearly ADD. I constantly sidetrack myself looking up very esoteric (read, nearly useless) information. I can’t use a dictionary; I inevitably find myself stopping and reading about words I never intended to look up. Wikipedia? Not a chance. Those reference links are just begging to be clicked. So this is my outlet for my curiosity.

This is an great idea with a wonderful execution!
I love your sense of humor.
Keep up the great work.

P.S. I’ve always wondered how some amphibians or reptiles can regrow limbs. Doesn’t seem fair, right?

Just came across your site… what a great idea. Loved your reply to the comment on “macbeth” story. Don’t know if you’re planning this but you should put up a page where we can send you *our* “I Always Wondered” questions….for example, I’ve always wondered what is the purpose of those rubber (I think) lines in the road that are “stapled” to the road real close to each other…they’re there for a little while and then they disappear…what are they for?
regardless great idea, good looking site, and your humor makes it that much better…hope you keep it up

Good Idea! I’m on it!

And i think you’re referring to the lines that that run perpendicular across the road? I believe those are used to count traffic on that street for city planning purposes, but I could be wrong. I’ll look it up! Great question!
Edward Williams says:

Yes, exactly – ones running perpendicular. Counting traffic…interesting – that kinda makes sense. Cool!

Thank you for creating this website. I am this kind of person who wonders about little things about our daily lives such as: why do hairs grow in one direction and not another? Why does the blue sky looks brigher down in Australia than in Europe?

Could we also contribute questions? And if you’ve always wondered as well, it could go under the unanswered section, unless of course, you already have the answer.

This is a very nice site with great illustration but why use the curse words? I would love to share this with my kids but the use of GD and the F word are preventing me. I don’t think you need them.
Please take this criticism constructively.

Will, I appreciate the feedback, but I’ll have to simply apologize. I tend to cuss a lot. In the rest of the work I do, I have to hold back – this is my one free-for-all outlet; let me have it
That said, I’ll look into creating a safe for work version.

Great site and glad I stumbled on it. In reference to the query by Edward Williams about the raised perpendicular lines across a road, I believe they are warning strips that sonically alert the driver of the need to stop soon.

I always wondered if anyone else was as curious about…well, everything…as I am. Now I found your site. It’s like a dream come true!
Thank you for your research and beautiful artwork -you’re saving the rest of us from getting [more] side tracked by our own curiousity!

Fantastic site. Maybe you can answer a question that has been gnawing away at me for years – if a zombie bites a werewolf, would the werewolf become a zombie? Ditto for zombies and vampires…

Amazing! I just had to comment. I’ve finally found my brain twin.
My husband always teases me that when he wakes up in the morning, he’ll check my open tabs just to see where my mind has been wondering. I could have started a search on how to cook beef stew and somehow ended up with reading up on the fall of Rome. He’s also constantly bombarded with “How do you suppose….let me go wikipedia/google it!”
And the actual site is gorgeous… looking forward to more entries…

Oh, I LOVE this page. Great design! I get sidetracked OFTEN and my curiosity has driven some people almost crazy – or so I have been told. Thanks to the internet/mobile internet I mostly don’t ask anymore, I just google-/wiki- or whatever- it. This page is DEF going on my favorites! Keep it up!

[...] I Always Wondered is an amazing website created by Jarrett Green as an outlet for his curiosity. He gives hilarious explanations to the random things he questions. Topics range from Science and History to a category called “shamelessly stupid” and each post is accompanied by a wonderful illustration. My favorite explanation is What makes curly hair curly? and my favorite illustration is Why can’t you say ‘Macbeth’ in a theater? [...]

This site rules. Informative and witty, plus I can impress people with what I learn. xD It’s an advantage to know a little something-something about everything, even if not in-depth. Most people don’t wanna hear in-depth anyway.
This place cures my boredom.
